With summer approaching fast amid unprecedented rise in tourist footfall the focus of Government will most likely now shift to resumption of works on most of the infrastructural projects at most of the tourist places in Kashmir Valle
With summer approaching fast the winter tourism is unlikely to last for more than a month and as such tourism activities will also change by mid March this year as usual. Change in tourism activities with the change in season doesn’t change the priorities of the Government on development of infrastructural facilities at tourist places but it surely changes the timing for suspending and resuming the works on incomplete infrastructural projects. While there is a always compulsion for the Government to suspend the works on infrastructural projects before the commencement of the winter at tourist places in Kashmir Valley, the Government is always desperate to resume works on incomplete infrastructural projects at tourist places immediately after winter ends by or before mid March. So by February end or the first week of the March the works on infrastructural projects are resumed at most of the tourist places in Jammu & Kashmir particularly Kashmir valley where all work on all developmental project remains freezed from December to Mid March. Significantly the Chief Secretary Attal Dulloo had immediately after taking over the charge early winter this year reviewed the progress of works on roads leading to key tourist places in Jammu & Kashmir and the R&B department was asked to expedite the works on roads leading to key tourist places immediately after the three chilly months of winter before or after mid March.
“Since for hassle free travel of tourists the development of roads is and has to be a priority for the all times to come, the onus of starting the ground work for resumption of works on incomplete roads leading to tourist places lies on J&K Government’s R&B department .With Secretary R&B Bhupinder Kumar touring several districts of Jammu region for reviewing the progress of work on the under construction roads including those leading to tourist places the focus of the Government is likely to shift on completion of incomplete roads particularly those leading to tourist places in Kashmir Valley from March onwards.”
With focus of the interim budget passed by the parliament early this week going on development of off-beat destinations and heritage sites at tourist places across Jammu & Kashmir, the priority of the Government is likely to shift now to the resumption of the works on the roads leading to key tourist places after remaining suspended for last four months.
