Jammu : Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) on Wednesday strictly instructed the officers to keep vigil over meter tampering, illegal connections and billing irregularities while cautioning the erring consumers of stringent action against any such misconduct on their part.
Managing Director JPDCL Jammu, VikasKundal, issued these directions to the concerned staff during his surprise visit to the Data Centre and Customer Care Centre at Gladni Grid Station, Narwal here.
The MD, while exhorting upon the consumers to refrain from any such kind of illegal activity, said that meter tampering will put their own safety at risk as this can cause electrical fires, explosions and other safety hazards resulting severe consequences. On the other hand, it will make the consumers to face frequent disruption in their power supply due to the outcome of their own fault of indulging in hooking or meter tampering.
He asked the staff to keep a strict check on hooking and bypassing of meters through online mode and report such cases to the concerned sub-divisions for strict action against the defaulters.
During the visit, the MD inspected the customer care centre and took stock of functioning of the vital unit. He directed the concerned officers to remain available 24×7 for resolving consumer’s grievances.
He appealed the general public to call on toll free numbers 1912/0191-2479122 in case of any grievance related to billing or power issues. The MD, during the inspection of the cnetre, was apprised of the system up-gradation which has recently been made in the JPDCL software to connect it with smart meters and banking software to provide seamless experience to the end consumers.
He emphasised that JPDCL software should be continuously upgraded to meet the challenging requirements as the consumer base of JPDCL is increasing and successful installation and shifting to smart meters shall require a lot of back end support.
The MD was accompanied by Chief Engineer, Distribution, BavinderKundal and other officers. Earlier, Executive Engineer IT & C Division, JPDCL, Anil Verma, apprised the MD of the overall working of the IT Division.
