Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Bijbehara at a checkpoint established near Fruit Mandi Jablipora intercepted a suspect identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Wagay S/o Gh Qadir Wagay R/o Jablipora Bijbehara and during search, 5.2 kgs of crushed cannabis was recovered from his possession, adding therein that the said accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has registered a case under FIR No. 26/2024 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Bijbehara and also initiated the investigations , Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
