DC Srinagar inspects progress of construction works on Migrant Transit Accommodation at Zewan

DC asks executing agencies to strictly adhere to the set deadline

Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Tuesday undertook a visit to Zewan area of District to oversee the progress of ongoing works being executed on construction of Migrant Transit Accommodation for PM Package employees.
During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineer R&B, Executive Engineer PDD, Executive Engineer PHE, Tehsildar Panthachowk, Nodal Officer and other concerned.
The Deputy Commissioner took a round of the various under construction Blocks of the Migrant Transit Accommodations. He was apprised that the work on the project for construction of 39 blocks comprising of 936 flats is going on in full swing and as on date an amount of Rs 67 crore has been expended against the allotted cost of Rs 112.34 crore.
While reviewing the present status of the project, the DC was informed that over 70 percent target under the project has been achieved with completion of civil works on 26 blocks comprising 624 flats.
The DC was further informed that 10 Blocks of Migrant Transit Accommodation for PM Package employees shall be completed by March 2024.
With regard to providing drinking water facilities at the Transit Camp, the DC was informed that over 60 % works have been completed on the construction of 50,000 Gallons RCC Sump and Operators quarter at a cost of Rs 32.24 lakh. While 85 % works on Construction of 100000 Gallons dome type RCC service reservoir has been completed for which Rs 35.04 lakh have been earmarked.
Similarly, the DC also took first hand appraisal of power supply to the Transit Accommodation and was informed that various works for power supply are at different stages of the completion including Distribution works being executed comprising Erection of 2 No.11kV feeders, DTs for of 39 residential towers, and Illumination/ Streetlights to the periphery.
The DC asked the concerned executing agency to take up the works for community halls, approach road and protection/boundary walls at the venue simultaneously.
On the occasion, the DC asked the concerned executing agency to handover 10 Blocks of the facility by March 2024 as committed by the executing agency and further accelerate the pace of ongoing construction works to ensure timely completion of the whole project.
