Theft case solved in G’bal within hours, 2 accused arrested, stolen property recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has solved a theft case within hours by arresting two accused involved in the commission of crime, adding therein that the stolen property has also been recovered from the possession of the accused.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that during last evening hours, Police Station Ganderbal received inputs through reliable sources about the entry of some unknown thieves into the the residential house of Gh Mohd Sofi S/o Noor-Din Sofi R/o Patipora Saloora and theft of some jewellery and cash, adding therein that a case under FIR No. 18/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered besides which investigation into the case was also initiated.
Police in it’s statement further said that a special police team was constituted under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Ganderbal Gh Hassan led by SHO Police Station Ganderbal which acted swiftly and after strenuous efforts with the help of technical inputs & CCTV footage, apprehended two accused identified as Imran Ismail Bhat and Umar Shafi Gilkar, both residents of Tailbal Hazratbal.
Stating that during preliminary investigation, Police came to know about the involvement of the said accused in the commission of crime as on their disclosure, stolen jewellery including 1 Golden Ring, a pair of Golden Ear Rings, a Golden Badge & cash amount of Rs. 13,000 was recovered from their possession, Police in it’s statement further said that the Vehicle (Amaze Car) bearing registration number JK01AT-1953 used in the commission of the crime was also seized.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people of the area have appreciated its efforts for swift action and solving the theft case within two hours. Police on this occasion also appealed people to cooperate with it & share inputs of criminals present in the society so that action under law shall be initiated.
