DDC B’la chairs DLTC meeting, approves SoF for Agriculture & allied sectors

Fishermen to be covered under KCC for the first time

Baramulla : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa on Monday held a meeting of District Level Technical Committee (DLTC) to finalise the Scale of Finance (SoF) for the year 2024-25 for Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry at DC Office, here.
During the meeting, the DC, who is also the chairman of DLTC, took comprehensive appraisal of the credit issuance schemes run by the government towards the farmers to enhance accessibility of agricultural loans through Kisan Credit Card (KCC) in a hassle free manner.
The meeting held a detailed discussion to determine and fix the SoF for providing loans to farmers for Short Term (ST) in the shape of working capital for the maintenance, food, fertilizer, pesticides, labour and manure etc for growing crops in the area in order to achieve sustainability.
The DC was informed that for the first time Fishermen have been covered under the ambit of KCC in Baramulla District and they can avail the benefits of SoF upto Rs 33000 to purchase fishing gears and upscale their businesses.
DLTC, during the course of the meeting, finalized the SoF to determine the eligible credit for each crop and farmer for the financial year 2024-25 which will be forwarded to the State Level Technical Committee for approval.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted that the fixation of finance for the Agricultural and allied activities shall help the farmers of the District to take maximum advantage of various types of free credit in a hassle-free manner. Minga Sherpa also said that the fixation of finance shall also create employment opportunities in the District through Agricultural Entrepreneur activities.
The meeting was attended by the officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Floriculture, Sericulture, NABARD, Central Cooperative Bank Grameen Bank, Lead District Manager, Cluster Head J&K Bank and others.
