Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by In-charge Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling at Furrah intercepted a suspect Zahid Ahmad Shan S/o Ghulam Mohd Shan R/o Chirhama who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party, but was apprehended tactfully and during 90 grams of charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement said further said that in a similar action, a police party of Police Station Qazigund intercepted a suspect Mudasir Ahmad Wani S/o Abdul Rashid Wani R/o Yarhole Babapora carrying a nylon bag at Bonigam and during search, 3 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Qazigund and later investigation into the case was also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extended their cooperation to Police in eradicating the drug menace from the society.
