Kishtwar: The District Administration Kishtwar, led by Deputy Commissioner Dr.DevanshYadav, on Friday executed a thorough anti-encroachment drive in the Main Bus Stand and Market areas along the National Highway.
The drive was jointly conducted by the officials from Revenue, Municipal Committee, and assisted by a police team.
The initiative aimed to reclaim public spaces from illegally installed stalls and reharis etc.
During the operation, the team effectively removed encroachments on footpaths and confiscated goods displayed outside shops infringing the public space.
Violators faced stringent actions, issued challans and notices with a stern warning to refrain from encroaching on footpaths and roads.
The comprehensive approach extended to seizing vegetables, fruits, and temporary decorative materials from the front of business establishments. The team also scrutinized the licenses of roadside Reharis, penalizing those without valid permissions. Auto rickshaw operators were advised to park only at authorized stands, ensuring smoother traffic flow.
The drive, spanning over an hour, resulted in the removal of seized goods by the district administration for further necessary actions.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner also engaged in a productive dialogue with representatives from Traders associations/ BeoparMandalKishtwar, Business Owners, and Khoka and Rehadiwalas here in the Conference Hall.
The meeting focused on addressing the grievances of Shopkeepers, Hawkers and Street Vendors, who shared their concerns with the DC.
Impressively, DC Kishtwar promptly redressed these grievances and briefed the representatives on the proactive initiatives undertaken by the District Administration Kishtwar to enhance the market landscape ,free of congestion and encroachments alongside footpaths.
Emphasizing the importance of creating a conducive environment, DC Kishtwar advocated for the shifting of Hawkers and Rehariwalas to the newly designated Vending Place near the old wineshop of Main Bus Stand Kishtwar, situated on a place namely Hadda Pond.
Furthermore, DC Kishtwar urged Traders associations to play a pivotal role in facilitating the Hawkers’ makeshift arrangements, fostering collaboration for a thriving business ecosystem.
Additionally, the DC highlighted the necessity of various initiatives, such as Vendor Places and a Food Court at DakBanglowKishtwar, to provide comprehensive support to vendors in the region.
