Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has attached a property (Mini shopping complex comprising of 04 shops) belonging to a a drug peddler in Handwara identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Sultan Dar R/o Lachipora Handwara under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the said drug peddler was involved in several NDPS cases including Case FIR No.316/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Handwara, Case FIR No. 86/2020 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Handwara, Case FIR NO.242/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Police station Handwara and Case FIR No .36/23 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Handwara.
Police in it’s statement further said that the said property was found illegally acquired during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police, adding therein that the property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic substances by the drug peddler who is currently under detention at Kote-Bhalwal Jammu under PIT-NDPS Act.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people of the area have hailed the initiative taken by it with regard to the attachment of immoveable properties raised/used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddler in the Police District Handwara.
