A strict vigil over the use of internet by children for right purposes by teachers in classes and parents in their homes can not only reduce but also reverse the growing trends of internet addiction among children.

Growing public concerns about rising internet addiction among children are not unfortunately taken serious enough to reduce the trends and tendencies of lavish use of internet growing fast among children. Since researchers in a recent survey have found children coming under the influence of internet addiction during childhood day and subsequently developing tendencies of alcohol abuse and drug abuse in a short span of few years, the onus of reducing the trends of internet addiction among children lies equally on parents and their teachers. Though access to internet for online classes can’t be denied to children even in their early years of education but it is also an irrefutable fact that a strict vigil over the use of internet by children for right purposes by teachers in classes and parents in their homes can not only reduce but also reverse the growing trends of internet addiction among children. While a strong vigil over the internet activities of children can reduce the growing risk of internet addiction among children, no vigil over the internet activities of children by teachers in the classes and parents in their homes can expose them to higher risks of internet addiction. The greater the exposure of children to use of internet for educational purposes the lesser would be the risk of internet addiction and lesser the exposure of children to use of internet for educational purposes the higher the risk of internet addiction among children.

“A public awareness campaign against the growing internet addiction can wake up the society from deep slumber and civil society groups can play a more vital role than the Government in reducing the trends of internet addiction among children in Jammu & Kashmir  As Internet addiction not only becomes a cause of many social evils but  also intensifies the trends of alcohol and drug abuse besides suicides among youth, the onus of taking corrective measures lies equally both on the Government and as well as the civil society groups in Jammu & Kashmir.”

Addiction to Internet platforms growing fast among children is not only a health risk but it also develops a sense social isolation among children which ultimately drives them to the tendencies of alcohol and drug abuse and even suicides at a very early stage of their childhood days.  Undoubtedly  Schools and Colleges hold awareness camps on drug and alcohol abuse but don’t bother to even think about holding awareness camps on growing internet addiction among children at schools and colleges. A public awareness campaign against the growing internet addiction can wake up the society from deep slumber and civil society groups can play a more vital role than the Government in reducing the trends of internet addiction among children in Jammu & Kashmir  As Internet addiction not only becomes a cause of many social evils but  also intensifies the trends of alcohol and drug abuse besides suicides among youth, the onus of taking corrective measures lies equally both on the Government and as well as the civil society groups in Jammu & Kashmir.
