Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Shampora crossing intercepted a suspect Imran Ahmad Ganie S/o Mohd Ramzan Ganie R/o Nassu Badragund who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party and during search, 6 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance concealed in nylon bag was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police registered a case under FIR No. 34/2024 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund and also initiated further investigation,Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs and reiterated it’s commitment act tough against the criminals as per law.
