Block Diwas at Pattan: DC B’la leads efforts to address community concerns

Baramulla: In an endeavour to engage with the community and listen to their grievances and demands at their doorsteps, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa on Wednesday presided over a Block Diwas programme, organised by District Administration Baramulla at Government Degree College Pattan.
Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf; Sub Divisional Megistrate Pattan, ACD Baramulla, other officers from concerned line departments, public representatives, delegations and a large number of people from villages and municipal areas of Pattan block participated in the Block Diwas.
The main issues raised by the public during the Block Diwas included, unavailability of core streams at Pattan Degree College’s curriculum, beautification of Pattan Town, issues pertaining to access of portable drinking water, upgradation of schools, demand for health centre at Yatipora, and macadamization of inner roads, shifting of electric poles at main market of the town.
The DC proactively interacted with participants, attentively addressing their grievances and developmental concerns. Many issues were promptly resolved on the spot, while the DC assured the public that the rest of their demands have been noted and will be taken up with the concerned departments on priority.
Speaking about the beautification of Pattan Town, the DC highlighted that while the district administration will work towards facilitating infrastructure building, preserving and enhancing the beauty of the town is a civic duty shared by all.
Meanwhile, the DC delegated the responsibility to the District Animal Husbandry Officer to arrange for mobile dispensary vans in the cattle village areas where veterinary clinics are not readily accessible.
Regarding the potable drinking water issue, the DC emphasized that Baramulla district has been allocated the highest number of schemes under JJM, and additionally, under AMRUT 2.0, the remaining areas of towns will be covered to ensure access to potable drinking water.
Minga Sherpa expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community for their resilience in braving the cold and rain to attend the Block Diwas event and voice their concerns and grievances.
