11 drug peddlers arrested across valley: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested 11 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Sopore and Budgam police districts and akso recovered contraband/Psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Post Wussan headed by Incharge Police Party Wussan at a checkpoint established at Sultanpora, intercepted a person identified as Sajad Rasool Dar S/o Gh Rasool Dar R/o Palhallan Pattan and during search recovered 53 grams of Charas like substance from his possession.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action, a police party of Police Station Uri headed by SHO Police Station Uri at a checkpoint established at Laghama-Paranpeelan road near Forest hut, intercepted four suspects identified as Nowkhaiz Khan Awan S/o Kalu Khan Awan, Yasir Ahmad Khan S/o Shakeel Ahmad both residents of Paranpeelan, Abdul Waheed Ganie S/o Abdul Qayoom R/o Tilawari and Sibti Hassan Halwai S/o Ibin Hassan R/o Kila Kiratpur Bijnor UP at present Uri and during search recovered 70 grams of Charas like substance from their possession.
Police in it’s statement furthermore that in a similar action in Sopore, a police party of Police Station of Dangiwacha at a checkpoint established at Hadipora Chowk intercepted three suspects identified as Farooq Ahmad Malla @Hilal S/o Abdul Rahim R/o Hadipora Rafiabad, Firdous Ahmad Dar S/o Muhammad Sultan Dar and Riyaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Ghulam Muhammad Ganie both the residents of Reban and during search recovered 100 grams of Charas like substance, cash amounting to Rs. 4400 (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) and three mobile phones from their possession.
Stating that a police party of Police Component Rafiabad at a checkpoint established at Laiser Crossing intercepted a suspect identified as Mehraj ud Din Mir S/o Abdul Khaliq Mir R/o Omar Colony Chijhama Rafiabad and during search recovered 50 grams of charas like substance, cash amounting to Rs. 13500 (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) and a mobile phone from his possession, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that in Budgam also during routine naka checking near Srinagar International Airport, police party of Police Post Humhama intercepted a vehicle (Maruti Alto) bearing registration No JK04H -8579 driven by one Javid Ahmed Dar S/o Abdul Ahad Dar R/o Gagoo Humhama and during search of said vehicle recovered charas like substance weighing about 70 grams and 58 Strips of Alprazolam from his possession, adding therein that the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
Police in it’s statement also said that during Naka checking at Khansahib near Ahle Hadees Masjid, a police party of Police Station Khansahib intercepted a suspect identified as Khurshid Ahmed Mir S/o Gh Mohd Mir R/o Khansahib carrying two nylon bags who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but was tactfully apprehended, adding therein that during search, semi grinded charas like substance weighing about 2kg and 380 grams was recovered from the possession of the said accused who have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody and the cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations besides which investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
