National Road Safety Month 2024: RTO Kashmir Visits Pahalgam sub-division

Ang: Pahalgam sub-division Tuesday witnessed celebration of multiple road safety events under the banner of Road Safety Month, 2024 being organised by Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Anantnag in collaboration with local administration of Pahalgam Sub Division.
RTO Kashmir, Syed Shanawaz Bukhari, who was Chief Guest on the occasion flagged-off Maxi Cab Rally.
The main function was held at Town Hall Pahalgam where RASTA Initiative was launched by the RTO Kashmir.
Addressing the media, Bukhari lauded the efforts of District Administration’s unique initiative viz a viz Road Side Traffic Assistance (RASTA ) where in the administration will impart the Basic Life Support Training to the Shopkeepers and commercial drivers so that in case of crash the trained person can come to Assistance for the injured persons.
Addressing the commercial drivers, RTO Kashmir appealed them to desist from over speeding and not to indulge in rash and negligent driving. He directed ARTO Anantnag to take strict action against those who violate traffic laws.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer Anantnag, Dr Mohammad Zubair Lattoo highlighted the importance of disciplined driving on roads so that fatalities can be minimised. He said that the objective behind RASTA initiative is to give basic training on first aid to first responders on roads (Passerby, Onlookers, Shopkeepers) so that life of a crash victim can be saved during the Golden Hour.
He said that it is not always possible to provide medical care to the victims, however many deaths and disabilities can be prevented due to timely First Aid.
At the conclusion of the event First Aid Kits were distributed among the trainees.
