Govt Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu starts training under PM Vishwakarma Yojana

Jammu: Government Polytechnic Jammu Tuesday became the first Polytechnic of J&K to implement prestigious PM Vishwakarma Scheme (PMV) with the start of training of 60 trainees (Vishwakarmas) in Tailor (Darzi) Craft to enhance their skills and empower them regarding self-employment.
The training programme for Vishwakarmas was started under the leadership of J&K Government. The training was inaugurated Tuesday by Director Skill Development Department (SDD), Sudershan Kumar in presence of Leena Padha, Mission Director, Skill Mission J&K along with Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu, Er Arun Bangotra, and other representative of Directorate of Skill Development Department and NSDC, J&K.
Director said that PMV is an ambitious initiative of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and it aims to provide recognition, training, tool kits, certification, marketing support and soft loans to empower the craftsmen and artisans of our country who immensely contribute towards the economy of our nation as a whole. He commended the efforts of Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu and his team for being the first Polytechnic College of J&K to implement the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
Leena Padha Mission Director, Skill Mission J&K highlighted the importance of skill development in empowering the youth and contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu highlighted the basic objectives of the scheme by recognition of artisans through PM Vishwakarma certificate as well basic training of five to seven days and advanced training of 15 days or more, with a stipend of Rs. 500 per day, providing modern toolkit of Rs 15000 free of cost to trained Vishwakarmas besides linkage with credit based soft loans and marketing support for expansion of their business.
Trainees expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to dedicate themselves to acquiring skills that would not only benefit their individual careers but also contribute to the overall development of the Jammu region. Other present on the occasion were HOD Civil Engineering Sukhdeep Singh, HOD Mechanical Engineering, Raj Kumar, Jatinder Kesar, OSD, Zia UlHaq and Khalid Sheikh from J&K Skill Mission, Surekha Rani, Sanjogita Mehra and Amit Kapoor Instructors of Government Polytechnic Jammu and various craftsmen were also present on the occasion.
