2 gamblers arrested in Kulgam, stake money also seized: Police

Kulgam: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two gamblers and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities in the jurisdiction of Police Post Mirbazar, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar raided the suspected gambling site at Furrah and apprehended two gamblers on the spot who were identified as Afroz Ahmad Tantray S/O Abdul Rehman Tantray and Mohammad Rafiq Wani S/O Gull Mohd Wani both residents of Furrah, adding therein that stake money of Rs. 6800/- and a set of playing cards were recovered from the possession of the said accused who have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 16/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police station Qazigund besides which investigation has been also taken up, People in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and urge them to also share information about the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
