3 drug peddlers arrested in Bla, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Baramulla: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and also seized contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party intercepted a person at Jetty road Khawajabagh and recovered 25 grams of Brown Sugar-like substance from the possession of the said accused identified as Aqib Ahmad Bhat alias Ponty S/O Abdul Salam Bhat R/O Sherwani Colony Khawajabagh following which he was arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla.
Stating that in a separate incident a suspect carrying 1.5 kgs of Cannabis Powder-like substance was intercepted at Mulgam Kunzer and during search 1.5 Kgs of Cannabis Powder like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh S/O Abdul Samad Sheikh R/O MulgamKunzer who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Kunzer where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations besides which further investigation has been also initiated into the cases.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that during investigation of case FIR No: 05/2024 U/S 8/20/22/29 NDPS Act of PS Kunzer, one more drug peddler identified as Shabir Ahmad Sofi alias JK S/O Ab Khaliq R/O Mazhoma Magam was arrested during a special checkpoint established at Chichiloora, adding therein that during search, 15 grams of Charas like substance was also recovered from the possession of the said accused who was shifted to Police Station Kunzer where he remains in custody besides which further investigation of the case is going on.
Appealing people to Cooperatate with it in combating drug menace Police authorities earnestly appealed people to remain vigilant and report any instances of drug peddling or other criminal activities in their vicinity. Police also urged people to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112, maintaining therein that the cooperation of people is crucial for curbing the menace of drugs from our society.
