Dear Readers:-
Today is the 12th death anniversary of my father, Syed Bashir Ahmed Bukhari, whose literary bent and propensity towards social service was ingrained so intrinsically. It was perhaps in these environs that I gravitated to journalism and launched Kashmir Horizon after dedicating decades to the profession. What my late father wanted from me the most was the maximum affordable social service. He had an irreversible belief that it is only and only social service that solaces a person. He equated social service with a balm on a festering wound.
In the night intervening 16th and 17th January in the year 2012 he passed away leaving behind a colossal responsibility for me. Running a newspaper is a herculean task and it offers a track that is unbeaten for the editor for each day. At times I want to cast off responsibility and give up to the challenges of journalism but the very words of my late father that courage moulds the hardest things give me a new strength for every coming day. With this strength I shore up my courage to beat the challenges of the thorn-replete path. The words of my father that nothing is invincible if efforts are sincere and determination is real always make me prepare to face the worst for the best. A decade is a course enough to efface memories but the vivid moments the “Kashmir Horizon” family particularly myself as his eldest son had with him are perennial ones .Time cannot pale these memories as they are replete with unending love, knowledge and experience he always shared with one and all in the “Kashmir Horizon” family .
The world is transient and so is it’s life .Sooner or later one has to bid adieu to it. What matters the most is what one leaves behind and fact of the matter is that the “Kashmir Horizon” family particularly me in person is proud of the legacy of my father late Syed Bashir Ahmad Bukhari he left behind . He was so much courageous and committed in his initiatives that he always conquered what he believed was invincible whether family affairs or other ones, he always emerged as a victor. “Kashmir Horizon” family particularly I myself owe to him what cannot be described in words. May Almighty Allah the most beneficent and the most merciful bless his soul with peace and may he have the best place in Jannah, Aameen Ya Rab Ul Aalameen!
Regards
Shafqat Hussain Bukhari
