DC flags-off Car rally as month-long National Road Safety Awareness campaign begins in B’gam

DC Appeals general public to strictly adhere to traffic rules

Budgam: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam, AkshayLabrooon Monday flagged-off a car rally from DC Office Budgam as observance of month-long National Road Safety Awareness campaign- 2024 begins in the district.
ADC Budgam, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah; CPO, Fayaz Ahmad; Inspector MVD Budgam and other concerned officers and officials were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC, who is also Chairman District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) stressed on strict adherence to traffic rules.
He emphasized on safe driving and urged the general public to ensure they take all precautionary measures especially wearing of helmet, seat belts and observing speed limits for safety of themselves and others on the road.
The car rally passed through the various markets of Budgam displaying Road Safety related messages.
On the occasion, the DC said that aggressive awareness campaigning shall be carried out on all precautionary measures to be taken by drivers and pedestrians during the month-long Road Safety Week celebrations.
He said that many precious lives are lost every year in our country due to road traffic accidents and many more are permanently disabled.
In order to curb and minimize such mishaps in Budgam, the district administration is simultaneously working on mapping vulnerable spots, checking overloading on crowded routes and working on informing people about the possible blind curves to bring in immediate measures in all such areas to stop accidents.
He further added that the district administration also rehabilitates various victim families under Road Accident Fund in the district.
The rally culminated smoothly at the new Bus Stand Budgam, where Inspector MVD expressed his gratitude to all participants, departments for extending their support in organizing the event.
