Baramulla: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V. K. Birdi on Friday led a comprehensive inspection in Baramulla district during which he stressed for focus on the functioning of Police Drug De-addiction Centre, the construction progress of a Police Post in Old Town Baramulla, and the operational aspects of Police Station Baramulla.
Accompanied by key officers, including DIG NKR, Vivek Gupta, SSP Baramulla i Amod Ashok Nagpure and SP Headquarters Baramulla, the IGP V. K. Birdi thoroughly assessed the ongoing initiatives and facilities during his visit. At the Police Drug De-addiction Centre, IGP Kashmir interacted with the people and affirmed the relentless commitment to combating drug-related issues. He lauded the swift actions taken by the J&K Police, particularly the Baramulla Police, against narco-militancy and drug-related crimes. Emphasizing the continuation and escalation of efforts against the drug menace, he appealed people to cooperate and report drug peddling activities of the area, the IGP Kashmir highlighted the significance of safeguarding the future of the valley’s youth and also underscored the importance of rehabilitating victims of drug abuse, acknowledging the severe impacts on individuals and communities. He stressed the need to combine law enforcement with initiatives addressing the root causes of addiction and supporting the recovery and reintegration of affected individuals into society.
During his interaction with the staff at the Drug De-addiction Centre, the IGP expressed satisfaction with the facility’s overall functioning and assured prompt resolution of any concerns raised by the dedicated team.The IGP V. K. Birdi inspected the under-construction Police Post in Old Town Baramulla and emphasized the need for a modern facility aligned with evolving law enforcement needs. During his visit to Police Station Baramulla the focus was on evaluating ongoing initiatives, crime data, statistics, and the effectiveness of operational aspects, including the Woman Help Desk, CCTNS, and reporting systems.
Addressing the officials and jawans, the IGP complimented their dedication and urged them to continue their duties with passion. He emphasized the adoption of people-friendly practices, efficient grievance redressal, and frequent interaction with locals to strengthen the bond between the police and the public. The IGP on this occasion also highlighted the importance of public outreach programs for better understanding the challenges faced by the people, reinforcing the commitment to creating a safer and more secure environment.
