Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir,Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbalon Saturday, inaugurated an awareness programme for the fertilizer distributors, dealers in South Kashmir at town hall Bijbehara.
The programme was organised by the law enforcement wing Anantnag and was attended by Chief Agriculture officer AnantnagAjazHussain Dar, Deputy Director law enforcement Mujtaba Yahya, Assistant Director law enforcement Srinagar, Feroz Ahmad Shapoo, District law enforcement Officer south Shiekh Imran, District law enforcement officer north Dr. Amarjeetsingh and other officers besides fertilizer dealers & distributers of south kashmir districts.
In his address, the Director reiterated the department’s commitment to uphold the farmers interests. He impressed upon the participants (fertilizers distributors) to ensure that only the genuine, quality inputs (fertilizers) are provided to the farming community of the region.
He said that any violation of fertilizer control order would not be tolerated and the action as per law would be initiated against the earing parties individual.
Chowdhury directed the officers of enforcement wing of the department to accelerate the frequency of visits by marketing checking squads so that only the quality fertilizers reaches the consumers. He marked the importance of a coordinated approach among the stakeholders in order to safeguard the economic interests of farming community. He said the poor quality fertilizers is not only an economically burdern to the farmer but is environmentally a disaster for the region.
He concluded that all the stakeholders including the department, fertilizer distributors must collaborate for the wellbeing of farming community.
Director Agriculture also interacted with the fertilizer distributors and conveyed his assurance of his full support and cooperation in their efforts towards the benefit of farmers.
