Crackdown launched on Drug Module in Ang, 3 of a familiy arrested with Huge Contraband Haul: Police

Anantnag: Police on Friday said that it has dismantled a drug module in Anantnag district by apprehending three members of a family involved in the illegal activities, adding therein that the operation led to the recovery of a substantial consignment of contraband and psychotropic substances.
In a statement issued on Friday from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on credible inputs received from authoritative sources police targeted a family suspected of orchestrating a well-planned criminal conspiracy that centered around the illegal trade of illicit alcohol and cannabis charas powder, adding there in that the said family members were identified as Mohd Ramzan Ganai (father), Shahzada Akhter (mother), and Zubair Ramzan Ganai (son), residents of Seer Hamdan Mattan.
Stating that the investigation led to the clue that the trio had concealed large quantities of illicit alcohol and cannabis charas powder in strategically designed hideouts within their residential house, a Swift Dzire car, a Baleno car, and a motorcycle, Police in it’s statement further said that a case under FIR No. 04/2024, encompassing relevant sections of the law, was registered at Police Station Mattan, and an investigation was promptly initiated.
Police in it’s statement further said that a search team, comprising Anantnag Police and an Executive Magistrate, raided identified locations during which 9.27 kilograms of Charas powder and 867 bottles of illicit alcohol were seized on the spot, adding therein that the trio was arrested, and their Swift Dzire car, Baleno car, KTM motorcycle, and a cash amount of Rs. 13,325 (believed to be proceeds of narcotics) were confiscated.
Stating that the investigation into the case is going on and expressing commitment to unravelthe entire network associated with this drug module, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to to proactively share inputs about drug peddling in their neighborhoods, reiterating therein it’s commitment that people involved in drug peddling will be dealt with according to the law. Police in it’s statement also reiterated that constant actions against drug peddlers shall continue to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
