DEO Shopian reviews Spl. Summary Revision, Directs maximum enrollment of new voters

Shopian : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb, who is also District Panchayat Election Officer on Thursday, chaired a meeting of BLOs, VLWs to review the preparations for Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll.
The meeting discussed various modalities for revision of Electoral roll.
The DC on the occasion, instructed officials to work dedicatedly and urged the participants to expedite the process of registrations with full efficiency and give 100% accuracy. He emphasised for door-to-door survey and said that no laxity of any kind will be tolerated in this regard.
Haseeb instructed the concerned to conduct revision strictly in accordance with the guidelines and complete the process within the given timelines. He also emphasized upon the concerned to take utmost care while making the addition of new voters/left out voters.
On the occasion, SDM, Zainapora, Mushtaq Ahmed insisted on making the electoral process voter friendly and assisting citizens at every stage for greater participation and said that the special camp dates should be made successful with good enrollment and making voters informed and empowered.
Dy. DEO, Jahangir Ahmed explained the process and methodologies to be adopted for 100% coverage by door-to-door visit of the households and also briefed about the forms to be used during the revision process.
He urged the PEBO’s to take all the stakeholders on board by ensuring that no voter is left behind. It was also advised to the PEBO’s to take help from assembly BLO’s in identifying voters who are enrolled in mother roll but are not included in Panchayat roll and the same need to be included in Panchayat rolls.
It was urged that special focus should be given to PWD voters, migrant voters and senior citizens and other vulnerable sections of the society and special camps should be organised with much publicity.
The meeting was attended by SDM Zainapora, Mushtaq Ahmed, Dy.DEO, Jahangir Ahmed, BDOs, PEBO’s and other concerned officers/officials of the election department.
