Bandipora : In order to accelerate the implementation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and ensure its success in Bandipora district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel Ur Rehman Rather, on Tuesday chaired a meeting with the concerned officers.
At the outset, the DC took stock of the progress made under the HADP since its launch in the district and reviewed the status of various interventions such as seed distribution, soil health testing, irrigation infrastructure development, micro-irrigation projects, farm mechanization, farmer training programs, and market linkages.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on overcoming challenges faced in implementing the program, particularly in remote areas. The DC directed concerned departments to work in close coordination with PRIs and farmer groups to ensure proper planning, execution, and monitoring of HADP activities.
Emphasizing the importance of empowering farmers, Rather called for increased focus on capacity building programs and providing timely access to inputs and technology. He stressed the need for adopting innovative practices and promoting diversification in agriculture to enhance productivity and income for farmers.
The DC set clear timelines for achieving specific targets under the HADP program and directed officials to submit regular progress reports. He assured all possible support from the district administration to ensure the successful implementation of the program.
The meeting was attended by the officials from the Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Sheep Husbandry Department, Fisheries Department, Rural Development Department, Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) and farmer representatives.
