“Concerns about  delay in generation of power tariff bills by consumers of  smart meter areas also deserve immediate attention and intervention of the Lt Governor for the furtherance of the causes of hassle free payment of online power tariff bills.”

With Lt Governor Manoj Sinha declaring it publicly that he personally oversees power distribution in Jammu & Kashmir, the power consumers in Jammu & Kashmir  would be surely hoping for more respite from long duration power cuts. Since the long duration power curtailments in mid “Chilla-i-Kalan” period are haunting people in Kashmir valley more than the power consumers in Jammu region, the people in Kashmir would be hoping for some improvement in the power curtailment schedule with Lt Governor closely watching the implementation of power distribution system across Jammu & Kashmir. Amid Lt Governor’s  statement about his personal supervision of power distribution  in Jammu & Kashmir unfortunately complaints about the breakdown in generation of monthly power bills are galore both in Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division and as such the concerns about  delay in generation of power tariff bills by consumers of  smart meter areas also deserve immediate attention and intervention of the Lt Governor for the furtherance of the causes of hassle free payment of online power tariff bills by the consumers of the metered areas in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division. Unfortunately delay caused in generation of monthly power tariff bills forces consumers to approach the concerned officials at KPDCL’s sub division offices and in the process most of the consumers choose not to visit KPDCL sub division offices for generation of their monthly power tariff bills without thinking about the late fee charged from them for delay in payments.

“Timely generation of power tariff bills would by all standards of understandabilities further the causes of timely collection of revenue from the power consumers of metered areas and consequently reduce the revenue deficit for the power development corporations both in Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. So like power distribution the breakdown in generation of power tariff payment system too deserves and demands immediate attention and intervention of Lt Governor as the corrective measures would reduce the delay in generation of monthly power tariff bills and consequently facilitate online payment of power tariff bills in time by consumers of metered areas of both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division.”

Though charging late fee for delay in generating power tariff bills is ethically wrong besides being a violation of the practices and procedures of online bill payment system committed by KPDL but unfortunately the consumers are charged late fee for the delay caused in generation of power tariff bills by KPDCL only.  So generation of power tariff bills in time is a matter of convenience more for Kashmir Power Development Corporation Ltd (KPDCL) than the consumers as generation of bills in time will reduce the scope for delay in payments of power tariff bills by the consumers of the smart meter areas across Jammu & Kashmir. Timely generation of power tariff bills would by all standards of understandabilities further the causes of timely collection of revenue from the power consumers of metered areas and consequently reduce the revenue deficit for the power development corporations both in Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. So like power distribution the breakdown in generation of power tariff payment system too deserves and demands immediate attention and intervention of Lt Governor as the corrective measures would reduce the delay in generation of monthly power tariff bills and consequently facilitate online payment of power tariff bills in time by consumers of metered areas of both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division.
