Jammu: The Congress high command on Sunday appointed five coordinators for 2024 Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir.
Party sources said that the appointment of coordinators has been announced in view of the preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls scheduled in April-May.
“Appointment of former minister Yogesh Sawhney for Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat will definitely boost up the cadre and bring the masses closer to the Congress party,” party sources said.
They said that Ghulam Nabi Monga has been appointed coordinator for Baramulla seat, Abdul Rashid Dar for Srinagar, Ravinder Sharma for Udhampur seat and Naresh Gupta for Jammu seat.
Notably, newly appointed AICC leader, former minister and in-charge J&K Affairs, Bharat Singh Solanki during his recent Jammu visit had said that the party will make a comeback in Jammu and Kashmir with victory in Lok Sabha Polls.
However, Singh posted on X, “Congratulations to all the Parliamentary constituency wise coordinators appointed by the Hon’ble @INCIndia President @kharge ji. Best wishes to them for this important responsibility.”
In the last Lok Sabha, National Conference won all three seats from Kashmir defeating Peoples Conference in Baramulla, Peoples Democratic Party and Congress in Anantnag.
In the polls, PDP had finished at third position in Anantnag Lok Sabha segment while both seats of Jammu division were won by BJP.
