2 drug peddlers held in Bla & Kulgam, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station at a checkpoint established at Boniyar Market intercepted one person identified as Mudasir Rashid Wani S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Gantamulla Bala and during search, recovered 52 grams of Charas like substance from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s further statement said that in a similar action in Kulgam also, a police party of Police Station Kund at a checkpoint established at Waripora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK01M-2080 driven by one person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Handroo S/o Abdul Aziz Handroo R/o Boat colony Anantnag and during search recovered 3Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance from the said vehicle following which the said accused was arrested and shifted to police station where they remains in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also been seized.
Stating that cases were registeree under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigation into the case too was initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’sabove quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
