J&K Youth Shine in National Youth Exchange cum-Inter State Junior Red Cross Training Camps

Jammu: Junior Red Cross- Youth Red Cross is a lifeline of the Red Cross, which works in schools & colleges. The IRCS, J&K is doing yeomen service for humanity under the president-ship of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha.
To provide the Juniors and their Counselors of J&K an opportunity to inculcate the spirit of selfless service, to understand the objective of Red Cross & Junior Red Cross amongst the students, recently a contingent of 24 students in two groups of 12 i.e. 6 Girls and 6 Boys each escorted by a Male and Female counselor of Jammu and Kathua District resp. participated in one week National Youth Exchange cum-Inter State Junior Red Cross Training Camps at Gita Gyan Sansthanam, Near Brahma Sarovar, Kurukshetra (Haryana) and at Sacred Heart School, Moga (Punjab) respectively. The camps were fully funded by the Indian Red Cross Society.
The students participated in various exchange programmes, had an opportunity to represent their culture, gained insights into diverse cultures from teams representing various states, discussed various topics and exchanged information about the activities of Red Cross and Junior Red Cross. In order to inculcate the spirit of humanitarianism among youth of the state, various competitions like quiz, painting, dance, folk songs, skit, extempore speech, exhibition, rangoli competition along with indoor games were organized. The students participated to imbibe and depict the selfless doings of Red Cross Society.
Under the guidance of Red Cross Secretaries, Ansuya Jamwal, (Jammu) and O.P Sharma (Kathua) the participants of J&K brought laurels to the state and became the highest prize winning UT. From Jammu, Jatin got first prize in solo singing, Nitin got third prize in solo dance, Amrina bought best performer prize, in group singing, boys bagged first and girls bagged second prize, Rishu got herself first prize in extempore speech, in exhibition and rangoli, Jammu got second and third prize respectively, Parvana (counselor) got first in Lucky star game, Jammu got best team in male category and their counselors, Gopika and Parvana got best performers award.
From Kathua, the contingents secured victories in five out of six events. In quiz competition, Kathua bagged first prize whereas in folk song, the team bagged second place. Similarly in group song, the team bought second prize while in poster making, the team clinched third prize.
The team got third position in poem recitation as well. The participants were Pranav, Vansh, Vishwas, Riya, Anamika, Preeti and Palak along with counselors Sunil Jasrotia and Monika Khosla.
The National Youth Exchange Programme has not only honed the participants skills but has also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and cultural exchange Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross society, J&K extended heartiest congratulations · to all the accomplished participants of the programme.
