DC G’bal chairs DLAC on Safe Food & Healthy Diets

Ganderbal : A meeting of District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Safe Food and Healthy Diets was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir in the conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, here.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the measures in place to ensure safe wholesome and quality food products in the district.
The DC took a comprehensive review of the functioning and achievements of the Food Safety Department.
A detailed deliberation was held on the crucial issues related to Food Safety standards, hygienic measures and initiatives under Eat Right Movement of India.
On the occasion, the DC who is also the Chairman of the DLAC was apprised about the current status of Food Safety in the district and various initiatives undertaken by the Department to ensure the provisions of FSS Act-2006 being implemented in the district.
Highlighting the importance of maintaining the high standards of Food Safety for the wellbeing of the general public, the DC issued instructions to officers to further enhance the quality of working in order to ensure safe wholesome and hygienic food is available in the markets.
He further emphasized the need for collective market checking to monitor and curb the malpractices of the food articles.
The DC stressed on conducting intensified market checking across the district and laid emphasis on increasing the volume of lifting food samples and inspections.
He also directed the enforcement officers to take strict action under law against the FBOs found involved in violation of Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, rules and regulations there under.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad; Programme Officer ICDS, Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal, GM DIC, District Food Safety Officer, AD FCS&CA, Chief Agriculture Officer, officials from food Safety Department and other concerned.
