Srinagar : An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said.
This is the first encounter of the year in the Union Territory.
Police said the gun battle broke out at village Hadigam on Tuesday evening when joint teams of forces were carrying a cordon and a search operation in the area.
They said as the forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire triggered the encounter.
In a post on X, police said Police, Army and CRPF are on the job.
“Encounter has started at Hadigam area of Kulgam district.
Kulgam Police, Army and CRPF are on the job. Further details shall follow,” Police said.
