DGP Swain sanctions 3.72 Cr. As special welfare relief/welfare loan

Jammu : Director General J&K Police R.R. Swain on Wednesday sanctioned rupees 2.20 crore as Special Welfare Relief in favour of dependents/legal heirs of 10 deceased police personnel. He has also sanctioned over Rupees 1.51 crore welfare loans in favour of 119 serving police personnel to meet their immediate financial needs and Rupees 2 lakh financial assistance in favour of Nok of 2 slain Police officials.
According to a statement issued from Police Media Centre, PHQ Jammu, the special welfare relief of Rupees 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased police personnel SI Ab Hamid, ASI Sukh Dev Singh, HC Mohammad Yaseen, HC Ichpaul Sing, HC Mohd Sadeeq, HC Kamal Kishore SgCt. Daya Kishan, SgCt Kuldeep Singh, Ct Bilal Ahmad and follower Altaf Hussain who passed away while in service. Moreover out of this amount (special welfare relief) rupees one lakh each has already been paid to the families/NoK for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units/Districts. The financial assistance has been given out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
The welfare loan of Rupees 42 lakh has been also sanctioned in favour of 42 police personnel for self marriage. While Rupees 1.50 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of 63 police personnel to meet the expenses of the marriage of their sons/daughters, 11 police personnel have been provided welfare loan of rupees 1.5 lakh each for higher/professional education of their wards. While Rupees one lakh has been sanctioned in favour of one police personal for the technical education of his son, Rupees 50 thousand each has been sanctioned in favour of two police personnel for circumcision/Akhandpath of his ward. The welfare loan sanctioned to the Police personnel is refundable and is recovered in monthly installments from their salaries without any interest.
On this occasion, the DGP has also sanctioned Rupees one lakh each in favour of Nok of slain Ct. Mushtaq Ahmad and Ct Raj Kumar as financial assistance for marriage ceremonies of their daughters.
Police in it’s statement also said that PHQ is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOS. Besides, there are schemes for the Noks of cops killed in the line of duty, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
