Reasi: District Development Commissioner ReasiVisheshMahajanon Wednesday participated in a community-centric event, “Block Diwas,” to directly engage with the residents of BhamblaPanchayat in block Pouni and address their grievances at their doorsteps.
The initiative of the LG administration aims to strengthen the bond between the district administration and the community by bringing governance closer to the people. During Block Diwas, residents had the opportunity to voice their concerns and seek solutions directly from the DDC and other concerned officers.
During the proceedings of Block Diwas, PRIs and locals raised a number of grievances and general demands with regard to augmentation of water and power supply, shortage of staff in health centers, blacktoping of link road, fresh survey of PMAY, pending MGNREGA payments and other issues of public importance.
After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp. He also gave on the spot directions to the concerned officers for time bound redressal of all the genuine public issues.
The DC asked the unemployed youth to come forward and take benefit from diverse Government self-employment schemes to earn a dignified livelihood for their brighter future.
During the programme, GM DIC Reasi gave a detailed overview of PM Vishwakarma Scheme and AD Employment detailed about Tejaswani and MUMKIN schemes for self employment.
Addressing the public, the District Development Commissioner announced the commitment of timely completion of all pending development projects in the Reasi district. The DDC also highlighted the pivotal role of education in advancing the district’s progress, especially emphasizing the need to educate children, particularly girls. Recognizing education as a cornerstone for development, he urged parents and Guardians to prioritize the education of their children to contribute to the progress of nation building.
Furthermore, the DDC asked all officers to increase awareness on an array of government schemes among the local populace.
Residents informed the DDC about the adverse impact of the construction on their access to water, leading to increased hardship for the community. In response, the DDC has directed officers from the GREF 57 RCC to collaborate with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in finding a viable solution to the water shortage issue.
Acknowledging the urgency of the matter, the DDC has set a deadline of 20th January for the GREF officers to propose and implement measures that will address the concerns of the affected population and provide adequate water to them.
Besides sensitizing the people, especially youth about the PMEGP, Tajsawani, PM- SEHAT, e-Shram and other self employment and other beneficiary oriented schemes, the DC urged the people to avail the benefit of different schemes launched by J&K as well as Central Government. He said that the District Administration is focusing on implementing all job and welfare oriented schemes especially for youth.
Government departments put up their stalls at the event to create awareness about government schemes, including those being implemented by Departments of Revenue, Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, ICDS,Social Welfare and J&K Bank.
Free medical checkup camps, on-the-spot Ayushman Bharat card registrations, and Kissan Credit Card applications were also made available to all.
On the occasion, DDC Mahajan distributed Kisan Credit Cards and Ayushman Bharat Cards to beneficiaries.
District Development Commissioner further conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing infrastructure development between Akhnoor and Poonch Highway. During the inspection, special attention was given to the Sungal Tunnel West Tube, spanning a length of 2.76 kilometers
He inspected the work and discussed the timelines with the GREF and the Construction agency. He directed that quality of work and adherence to timelines in road works is an important cornerstone and should be adhered to.
