Kulgam : Police on Wednesday said that it has registered 214 cases and arrested 502 persons for being involved in extraction/ transportation of minerals during the year 2023. Moreover, 507 vehicles used in illegal transport of minerals including 252 Tippers, 247 Tractors and 8 excavators have also been seized from different areas of the district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Baramulla Police along with the Mineral Department also realised fine in lacs for illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in the district. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police said that it is committed to take action against violators who are taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally to the detriment of people health, the ecology and the revenue of the government. Police on this occasion also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
