Wanted drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act booked in Bla: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has booked most wanted drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that most wanted drug smuggler identified as Dawood Ahmad Sofi S/o Ghulam Hassan Sofi R/o Solinda Khaipora Tangmarg has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Stating that many a cases were registered against the said drug smuggler as he was involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Tangmarg and other areas of district, Police in it’s statement further said that despite involvement in many FIRs, the accused did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’sabove quoted statement police said that the people of the area have appreciated its role for their action against drug peddlers.
