NCORD meeting held at Reasi, DC seeks robust measure to curb drug trafficking

Reasi : To combat drug abuse and the narcotics trade in Reasi District, a pivotal meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was convened on Saturday here under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan. The meeting focused on strategizing and implementing robust measures to curb the menace.
Chairing the meeting, District Development Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan emphasized the urgency of coordinated efforts across all departments to stem drug peddling activities and disrupt the supply chain. Stressing the gravity of the situation, he urged for resolute action against individuals engaged in this unsafe trade.
DDC Mahajan highlighted the achievement of declaring 58 panchayats as drug-free zones in Reasi district. Emphasizing the need for enhanced vigilance, he mandated the installation of CCTV cameras and computerized billing systems in all pharmacies to monitor and deter illicit activities.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of educational institutions in this fight, he directed school and college principals to remain vigilant and closely observe students’ behavior to ensure their non-involvement in drug-related activities. Furthermore, he instructed the installation of CCTV cameras in and around all educational institutions to monitor entry and exit, enhancing security measures.
Mahajan urged all district officers to actively identify and apprehend individuals involved in the sale of illegal substances within their respective jurisdictions. Additionally, he asked the district sports officer to organize a Mega Sports Week at General Zorwar Singh Sports Stadium, to engage students in healthy pursuits and steering them away from drug abuse.
Furthermore, DDC Mahajan directed the concerned authorities to install CCTV cameras and prominently display Rate cards/List at every wine shop within the district.
SSP Amit Gupta gave an overview of the confiscations and registration of FIRs in the matter. He also informed that in Calendar year 2023 5 PIT NDPS cases were slapped on drug peddlers and a strict vigil is being maintained. He further urged the officers to use their channels to being more information about those involved in abuse and trafficking of the substance.
ADDC Jyoti Slathia, ADC Abdul Star, ADC Anirudh Rai, SDM Katra and Mahore, CEO, DFO, Chief horticulture and Agriculture officers and other district officers were present.
