Mega Job fair held at DECC Kathua to boost Employment Prospects for Youth

DC Hands over appointment letters to selected youngsters, keys to MUMKIN beneficiaries

Kathua : An exclusive job fair was organised at the District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC) Kathua on Saturday where Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas who was the chief guest formally inaugurated the event. The event witnessed the participation of several renowned private and PSU companies such as Airtel, PayTM, Jio, and LIC, amongst others, to select deserving candidates for various job vacancies.
Over 500 youths participated in the job fair offering job roles of various kinds including telecommunication, Information Technology, insurance etc and out of which 52 were provided on spot job letters among the selected applicants.
The job fair saw a massive turnout of young and talented individuals from different colleges and ITI institutions that were shortlisted by the participating companies for different job roles. The day-long fair witnessed the screening of over 460 candidates through an on-spot interview process.
The DC, speaking on the occasion, emphasised that the exclusive job fair was organised with the objective of facilitating the students and youth of the district who were seeking employment opportunities. He also interacted with the job providers and the participants, inspected the stalls set up by the different companies, and encouraged young aspirants to participate actively in future job fairs.
Rakesh Minhas further highlighted the need for the youth to acquaint themselves with required skills keeping in view the demand for the growing industrial needs. He assured that similar job fairs shall be organised across the district.
The DC assured the youth of the district that besides job fairs, the District Administration Kathua would also undertake various skill development courses to bridge the gap between the level of skills of youth and the requirement of job-providing companies, thus contributing significantly to the region’s socio-economic growth.
Assistant Director DECC, Naresh Kumar expressed his commitment to empowering students and local youth towards a fulfilling career. He assured that the DECC will continue to play a crucial role to promote skilling, networking and access to employment opportunities.
During the event, a job seeker conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the district administration for orchestrating such a crucial Job Fair. He emphasized the profound impact of having employment opportunities right at their doorstep. The convergence of both private and public sector companies offering a myriad of job prospects aligned with diverse skill sets was acknowledged as a pivotal step toward empowering individuals with suitable career avenues. The job aspirant’s gratitude resonated with the sentiment that such initiatives bridge the gap between job seekers and a spectrum of employment possibilities, underscoring the significance of these fairs in fostering economic growth and individual prosperity. Earlier, the DC handed over the keys of Commercial Vehicles to the MUMKIN beneficiaries. Emphasizing the transformative potential of such opportunities, the DC highlighted how these endeavors empower young individuals to chart their paths towards self-sufficiency.
