“Mere a warning from the Director School Education Kashmir that appeared in newspapers and went viral on social media sites as well is not sufficient enough to reverse the trends of private tuitioning at private schools during winters in Kashmir Valley.”

Education for commercialistion heads to no dead end in Jammu & Kashmir as Government allegedly found some private schools virtually running coaching centres by forcing the students to attend tuition classes during winter vacations in some areas of South Kashmir. Such unauthorised and illegal academic activities prove it beyond doubt that private schools in Kashmir Valley have neither any respect for ethics nor for rules framed for their institutional and administrative accountability by the Government in Jammu & Kashmir. Mere a warning from the Director School Education Kashmir that appeared in newspapers and went viral on social media sites as well is not sufficient enough to reverse the trends of private tuitioning at private schools during winters in Kashmir Valley. Action by the Government against private schools for conducting tuition classes during winter vacations in some areas of South Kashmir doesn’t mean that practice of illegal and unauthorised tuitioning won’t be going on uninterruptedly at private schools in North and Central Kashmir districts. Actions by the Government against some private schools for running tuition classes in South Kashmir parts won’t reverse the trend unless and until the authorities of school education department don’t carry out regular inspections at private schools to reverse the trend in nook and corner of Kashmir Valley. It is also possible that regular inspections won’t be a regular  practice of the school education department at private schools during the periods of winter vacations in valley unless and until the Government does not declare it a regular practice for the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) and Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) of the school education department in valley districts.

Actions against private schools for conducting tuition classes won’t at all mean curbs on coaching centres conducting coaching during winter or summer periods under the rules already framed for functioning of coaching centres by Government in Jammu & Kashmir but action would convey a message of no permission for conduct of tuition classes at private schools during winter vacations in Kashmir Valley and this could be a right way for holding private schools accountable for any unauthorised and illegal academic activity during winter vacations in Kashmir Valley.”

In fact action should not mean only pulling down the shutters of private schools using their buildings for running tuition classes only for the winter vacation periods but action should also mean cancellation of their registration by the Director School Education Kashmir and affiliation by the J&K Board Of School Education (J&K BOSE). Such actions would convey a message of zero tolerance against conduct of tuition classes by private schools illegally and unauthorisedly during the period of winter vacations. Actions against private schools for conducting tuition classes won’t at all mean curbs on coaching centres conducting coaching during winter or summer periods under the rules already framed for functioning of coaching centres by Government in Jammu & Kashmir but action would convey a message of no permission for conduct of tuition classes at private schools during winter vacations in Kashmir Valley and this could be a right way for holding private schools accountable for any unauthorised and illegal academic activity during winter vacations in Kashmir Valley     .
