Baramulla: Secretary Tourism and Culture, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, on Thursday convened a public darbar at Chijhama, Baramulla to assess public issues and concerns besides taking stock of development works being executed in the area.
The event was among others attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina, Block Development Council member, Shabir Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, district officers, PRIs, social activists and locals.
The PRIs and the general public voiced a range of demands and grievances specific to the region encompassing various developmental and administrative issues that require attention.
The main demands and grievances included harnessing tourism potential in Rafiabad area, establishment of drug de-addiction center and a mini-secretariat in Rohama tehsil, completion of CHC at Dangiwacha, setting up of ATM at Hadipora, sanitation facilities and bathroom facilities and signage on Ladoo Ladoora trek route, water filtration issues in Hadipora, setting up of children’s Park in kandi belt of Rafiabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Abid Rasheed highlighted the primary goal of Public Darbar to bring the administration at the people’s doorsteps, ensuring easier access to government welfare and development programmes.
Secretary, while assessing keenly listening to the grievances and demands raised by the public, ensured prompt redressal of multitude of issues through the officers present in the darbar. He directed the officers to address and expedite the resolution of all remaining issues highlighted by the public representatives on priority basis.
Earlier, Secretary inspected stalls set up by various departments, including Education, Agriculture, Health, ICDS, Food Supplies among others. These stalls showcased a wide range of government schemes, services, and facilities aimed at benefiting the general public.
