4 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam; Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund during patrolling near R&B office intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Ravinder Singh S/o Gurmekh Singh and Satean Singh S/o Karnal Singh both residents of Jagrawan Ludhiana, Punjab carrying nylon bags and during search recovered 11 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance from their possession.
Stating that a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar established a special checkpoint at Alstop intercepted a vehicle (Auto Load Carrier) bearing Registration No JK18B-4430 with persons identified as Aarif Ahmad Malla S/o Azimu din Malla R/o Domidulla Tujan, Anantnag & Jasweer Singh S/o Bagh Singh R/o Pandoola Jalandar, Punjab and during checking recovered 25 grams of Heroin like contraband substance from their possession, Police in it’s statement further said thatall the accused werearrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody and a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides which further investigation was also initiated  into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace from the society.
