Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has booked three wanted drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged them at Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the most wanted drug smugglers identified as Suhail Ahmad Sofi S/o Ghulam Hassan, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Ahmad both residents of Solinda Khaipora Tangmarg and Waseem Ahmad Dar S/o Mohammad Sultan R/o Watalpora Tangmarg have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
Police in its statement firther said that many a cases were registered against the said drug smugglers as they were also involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Tangmarg areas and other areas of the District, adding therein that despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above statement police said that people of the area have appreciated the role of it for their action against drug peddlers and reiterated that all efforts are on to keep society free from drug abuse.
