Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam, contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Mahipora intercepted a vehicle (Santro Car) bearing registration number JK03C-4855 driven by one Aqib Mubarak S/o Mubarak Ahmad Rather R/o Chancer who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and during search, 10Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the said vehicle, adding therein that the said accused has been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 207/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kulgam besides which investigation into the case has been also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
