Srinagar : In a significant move to enhance and enrich campus experiences, the Director National Institute of Technology (NIT) Prof. Sudhakar Yedla on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art amphitheatre, providing students with a vibrant space for cultural, academic, and recreational activities.
The newly inaugurated amphitheatre is equipped with modern facilities, offering a platform for various events such as seminars, workshops, cultural performances, and interactive sessions.
The initiative is part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to foster a holistic learning environment and boost overall student engagement.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Prof. Yedla says that all-round development of students is the priority for NIT Srinagar. He expressed optimism about the positive impact the amphitheatre would have on campus life at the institute.
The director the facility is expected to serve as a hub for fostering creativity, talent, and community spirit among the students. He highlighted the limited avenues for a thriving social life on campus, acknowledging the absence of spaces conducive to student gatherings and discussions on various topics.
“As a response, the institution has introduced the “Amphitheatre.” This innovative space is akin to an open theatre, purpose-built for informal student gatherings. It encourages activities like playing the guitar, fostering discussions among peers, and simply enjoying quality time with friends.
Prof. Yedla said that this Amphitheatre aims to fill this gap, serving as a dedicated arena for students to bond and engage in lively interactions.
“It can serve as a platform for discussing academic topics, and I am confident that it will significantly enhance the social life on campus, particularly for students,” he added.
Director further mentioned that additional facilities are in the pipeline, including a mega auditorium, the renovation of a common hall, where enhanced socio-cultural activities can take place.
“In addition to these developments, the campus boasts state-of-the-art track and field facilities, as well as various sports amenities. Looking ahead, the students can anticipate a wonderful and enriched campus life in the years to come,” he added. The inaugural event witnessed the presence of all Deans, the Registrar, Heads of Departments and Centres, administrative staff, and other employees of the institution.
