Pulwama : In a concerted effort to bolster democratic engagement, the District Election Office in Pulwama has initiated a comprehensive awareness program on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).
The campaign, launched on December 15, 2023, aims to enlighten citizens at various levels, including assembly constituencies, polling stations, and the district headquarters.
Under the leadership of the District Election Office, five teams, comprising three individuals each, are actively conducting EVM demonstrations through a dedicated awareness van until February 28, 2024. This campaign seeks to cover 336 polling locations and 479 stations, fostering a deeper understanding of the electoral process among the community.
In a collaborative approach, the static teams are strategically stationed at five different locations: Town Hall Pampore, Tehsil office Tral, Pulwama, Rajpora, and Administrative Complex DC office Pulwama. These teams, working closely with Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Booth Level Officer Supervisors, and BLOs, aim not only for success but to celebrate community engagement in the democratic process.
State-level master trainers have equipped the district-level teams to disseminate knowledge about voting mechanics with enthusiasm. The Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program underlines that EVM training goes beyond instruction to promote civic responsibility and democratic awareness.
To ensure widespread awareness, schedules for visits to polling locations have been extensively shared through print and social media. Citizens are encouraged to connect with their Booth Level Officer for assistance, emphasizing the accessibility of information and support.
These initiatives symbolize the commitment of the District Election Office in Pulwama to ensuring a seamless and secure electoral process, setting the stage for a grand spectacle of democracy in action.
