Srinagar : Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen here on Monday called upon the Central Government to respect socio-political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir adding that their right to land and employment needs to be safegaurded at any cost . He demanded that statehood to Jammu and Kashmir should be restored before holding of assembly elections.
Talking to deputations from various areas of Khansahib and Budgam areas on Monday, Hakeem urged the Central Government to safeguard rights of people on land and employment adding that political and social aspirations of the people should be respected at all costs. He has also urged for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before holding of assembly elections. He said people were yearning for having their elected civilian government to seek redressal of their grievances. He said in absence of an elected government since last 9 years, there was a deep disconnect between the common people and the present LG led administration and the bureaucracy. He said due to disconnect between people and the bureaucracy, no one has access to get their day to day problems solved. “There was no accountability on the ground ,“ Hakeem added .
PDF Chairman said that LG led administration cannot be substitute to an elected civilian government adding that “as early as assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir , the better it would be in the larger interests of the country and common people . He said holding of early assembly elections and restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would be a significant confidence building measure CBMs to rebuild mutual trust and confidence between people and the Centre. He reiterated that PDF would continue its mission to safeguard identity of Jammu and Kashmir with focus on protecting people’s right on land and jobs. He said people of Jammu and Kashmir were much worried about safeguard their demographic identity.
