Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested 2 drug peddlers in Anantnag and Handwara districts and recovered contraband/ psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Anantnag, a police party of Police Party Sangam at a checkpoint established near Tulkhan Crossing Sangam intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number CH032-2567 driven by Mohd Rafiq War S/o Gh Hassan War R/o Shirpora Frisal and during search recoered 23 Codeine Phosphate bottles from the possession of said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar action, a police party of Police party Magam at a checkpoint established at Die Crossing Neelipora Magam intercepted a suspicious person identified as Jamsheed Ahmed Khan S/o Mohd Asadullah Khan R/o Neelipora Magam who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Stating therein further that during search, charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused who has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated further investigations into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
