Kishtwar: In a prompt response to the demand of the locals projected during Weekly Block Diwas Camp presided over by Deputy Commissioner KishtwarDrDevanshYadav, the Kishtwar district administration has initiated the operation of a crucial healthcare facility by inaugurating the First Red Cross Health Centre at Bhatkoot in ShandriPanchayat of Kuntwaraon Monday.
The facility was e-inaugurated by Dr. DevanshYadav, Deputy Commissioner in presence of Dr. M Y Mir, Treasurer Red Cross Kishtwar/CMO; Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Iqbal; SDM Paddar, Arun Kumar Badyal, and other officials. The healthcare facility created in collaboration with the Red Cross Society marks a significant stride towards expanding the access of healthcare in the remote region.
The inauguration ceremony saw the dedicated nurse and pharmacist from the local community of ShandriPanchayat, in addition to the attendance of patients, locals, and PRIs.
This initiative is in alignment with the directives of the General Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing the establishment of dispensaries in remote areas, manned by local medical professionals.
During the online interaction, heartfelt appreciation poured in from the people and PRIs towards DC and CMO Kishtwar and Red Cross J&K for their proactive initiative.
DC Kishtwar, while extending congratulating the residents of Kuntwara for this public facility, urged the staff of the newly established Health Centre to utilize the facility optimally and serve the healthcare needs of the people with utmost dedication.
Expected to leave a significant impact, more than 900 households are poised to benefit from this healthcare initiative, aligning with an earlier landmark order issued by DC Kishtwar for the establishment of a health center at Bhatkoot, ShandriPanchayat.
The swift action follows Deputy Commissioner Dr. DevanshYadav’s visit on November 1st, 2023, where immediate steps were taken to address the healthcare vacuum in an area lacking road connectivity. This decisive move promises a transformative change in the healthcare landscape of the region.
This health center will ensure the delivery of essential medical services, including vaccinations and deliveries, within the vicinity, effectively ending the arduous 8-10 kilometer journeys women and children had to undertake for basic medical needs, shared DC Kishtwar.
In a gesture of support, the local self-government and Sarpanch of ShandriPanchayat have graciously provided two rooms with water and electricity facilities, free of cost, for one year to bolster this initiative.
To equip the health center, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar has furnished essential medical equipment on a loan basis, including a labor table, radiant warmer, labor equipment, weighing machine, ILR, and a vaccination setup.
Moreover, Red Cross Kishtwar will supply Jan Aushadhi medicines sourced through CMO, amplifying the quality of healthcare services. As part of the infrastructure setup, ACP Kishtwar will contribute a 1 KW solar backup system with a battery and inverter under the 14th Finance Commission.
