Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at Gund Maqsood near Mehnoor Crossing Chadoora, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Asif Shafi Bhat S/o Mohd Shafi Bhat R/o Gund Maqsood Chadoora, who upon seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search, 8 grams of Heroin was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Ganderbal also, a Police party received inputs through reliable sources about a person namely Muzzafer Ahmad Kambay S/o Khazir Mohammad Kambay R/o Wanihama, Bala having hoarded contraband substance in his residential house, adding therein that said accused is involved in dealing and selling drugs to the local youth of the area.
Stating that while acting swiftly, a Police party led by IC PP Nagbal raided the specific location and during search, 3 Kgs of Dry Cannabis with Seeds hidden in a pit yard of his residential house was recovered, Police in it’s statement further said that the accused resident was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, adding therein that the police has registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated further investigations into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured people that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
