Drug peddler arrested in Handwara, contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a diligent team of officers led by Incharge Police Post Chogal under the supervision of senior officers at a checkpoint established at Pohrupeith intercepted a suspicious person identified as Aqib Ahmad Najar S/o Ab Qayoom Najar R/o Sopore, who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and during search, 4Kgs of Poppy Straw meticulously concealed in bag from his possession, adding therein that the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Stating that the police has registered a case a case under relevant sections of law in police station and initiated further investigation into the case, Police
