Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, on Saturday chaired a crucial meeting to assess and review the progress of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme in the district, here.
At the outset, the District TB officer presented a detailed PPT to brief the chair about block wise targets and achievements concerning all the parameters.
It was given out in the meeting that the district has registered an achievement of 83% under Presumptive TB Testing and 81% under TB Notification. District TB officer informed the chair that 85 panchayats are expected to qualify for TB Mukt status by the end of this FY.
The DC impressed upon the concerned officers to emphasize community awareness and participation in the TB elimination efforts. She directed all the stakeholders to work in close coordination and formulate a comprehensive action plan for the remaining 20 days of the current months to accelerate progress towards TB elimination goals. She said that progress of Presumptive Testing, in respect of certain blocks is not even close to desired goals.
The DC emphasised that BMOs have a crucial role under NTEP. All the BMOs should devise an infallible mechanism to scale up the pace of Presumptive TB Testing. She asked BMOs to give daily targets of Presumptive Testing to MLHPs and, if needed, organise an orientation program for the MLHPs, on priority and BMOs will ensure to share progress with her office, on a daily basis.
Regarding Nikshay Mitras, the DC directed BMOs to ensure that all the District officers and PRIs are registered as Nikshay Mitras. She said that continuous monitoring, evaluation and adaptability will be key to achieving the shared goal of eliminating TB from the District. “Foster a sense of ownership and responsibility in your respective roles”, DC said while stressing upon the Medicos.
The meeting was attended by CMO Kupwara, Dr Ramzan, District TB officer, Dr Ghulam Hussan; Medical Superintendent DH Handwara, Medical Superintendent SDH Kupwara, BMOs, officials from RDD and all other stakeholders.
