Kathua: District Administration Kathua observed Armed Forces Flag Day with patriotic zeal and fervor.
The office bearers of Zila Sainik Welfare Board, Kathua formally pinned Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas with Flag.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said “We have to respect brave soldiers all the time besides taking initiative for the welfare of families of ex-servicemen & martyrs.” He urged the countrymen to contribute generously towards the Armed Forces Flag Day fund and support the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. He said invaluable sacrifices of the defence forces cannot be repaid, but we must strive hard to look after them in their hour of need. The Nation cannot forget the supreme sacrifices, dedication to duty and maintaining an eternal watch to safeguard the frontiers of the country made by our soldiers during the course of duty while serving the motherland. He appealed to the officers/officials of the department to contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day.
On the occasion, students of various schools were present and some of them recited poems on patriotic themes as a tribute to the members of the Armed Forces.
To mark the occasion, the District and Sectoral Officers, officials of different departments pinned the token Flag and donated it for the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. The fund raising exercise was carried out by NCC cadets, school children, Ex-servicemen and officials of Zila Sainik Welfare Board, Kathua.
Armed Forces Flag Day commemorated with reverence in Doda
The Armed Forces Flag Day was marked with reverence and honour in Doda, as Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Wing Commander Tirath Singh (Retd), joined Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and SSP Abdul Qayoom at the DC office complex to celebrate the occasion. Remembering the valour and sacrifices of the personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the day aimed to pay tribute to their services.
The significance of the Armed Forces Flag Day was elucidated during the commemoration, emphasizing its primary objectives of the rehabilitation of families affected by battle casualties, welfare support for serving personnel and their families, and resettlement and welfare initiatives for ex-servicemen and their families.
In addition to the official celebration at the DC office complex, Government Higher Secondary School (Boys) Doda, Paramount Public School Doda, and other Schools and Colleges across the district also observed the day’s significance. Zila Sainik Welfare Officer Wing Commander Tirath Singh (Retd), serving as the chief guest at Paramount Public School, shared insights about the importance of the Armed Forces Flag Day with teachers and students. Notably, NCC Cadets from the school were briefed about the goals and impact of AFFDF.
The occasion also aimed to raise donations from the public for the noble cause. The collective effort of officials, students, and citizens in acknowledging the sacrifices and supporting the welfare initiatives showcased the spirit of unity and gratitude towards the armed forces.
Distt Samba celebrates Armed Forces Flag Day, NCC cadets conduct Fund Raising Campaign
The Armed Forces Flag Day Fundraising Campaign was launched on Thursday in District Samba by the NCC cadets and ZSWO Samba staff.
The campaign aims to raise funds to support the martyrs and war veterans, as well as encourage the citizens of the country to contribute for the welfare of our national heroes who selflessly safeguard the borders of the nation.
Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Samba, was honored as the campaign’s first participant by being pinned with the flag. SSP, Benam Tosh, ADC Samba Suresh Sharma besides other district officers were also present on the occasion.
